Cresa's James Pirot and Clune Construction's Tommy Dwyer to Co-Chair Hard Hats with Heart

2019 Honoree is Football Legend James P. “Jim” Burt

James A. Pirot, Managing Principal, Project Management, Cresa, the world’s largest occupier-centric commercial real estate firm, and Tommy Dwyer, Executive Managing Director, Clune Construction Company have been named Co-Chairs for the Second Annual “Hard Hats with Heart” event to benefit the American Heart Association (AHA). They will be joined by 2019 Honoree James P. “Jim” Burt, the renowned former National Football League nose tackle for the New York Giants from 1981 to 1988, including that team’s first two winning Super Bowls XXI and XXIV, and the San Francisco 49ers from 1988 to 1991.

Sponsors for the New York Tri-State area-focused event will include local offices of construction, engineering, architecture and real estate firms, among others. The goal is to raise funds to train 90,000 individuals in hands-only CPR by 2021.

“Jobs in the building trades are physically demanding, often with long hours and rarely in the healthiest of environments,” points out Mr. Pirot. “Approximately 350,000 Americans suffer cardiac arrest outside of a hospital, with less than 12 percent surviving, and these statistics are especially significant in our industry.”

Construction workers represent a high-risk category for heart attack and stroke. As a result, “Hard Hats with Heart” is anticipated to resonate across the various disciplines in the building trades community. In addition to CPR training, funds raised will be used to support research, education and community outreach programs in the Tri-State area AHA chapters.

Adds Mr. Burt, “Anyone who loves sports knows athletes often tough out their injuries and health issues, as do many who work in the construction trades. If we can sound the siren for better health habits in these communities, along with CPR training, I am ready to tackle those odds.”

“Hard Hats with Heart” is scheduled for Wednesday, June 4, 2019, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.,http://tristatehardhats.heart.org or by contacting Alissa.Kawahara@heart.org.
