The New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) has put its headquarters up for sale in Albany as it seeks a larger building that can accommodate future growth and consolidate staff who are now in multiple offices.
The 67,412-square-foot building at 17 Columbia Circle near Washington Avenue Extension and the Pine Bush Preserve is listed for $4.05 million.
Constructed in 1995, the 2 1/2-story building sits on 3.8 acres with 224 parking spaces. NYSERDA acquired the property in 2002 and is the only occupant.
Zac Conley and Todd Stevens of Cresa Albany are representing NYSERDA in the sale and search for new space.
The authority, which has about 200 employees at the headquarters and a nearly $2 billion budget this fiscal year, is looking for about 90,000 square feet.
"NYSERDA is pursuing opportunities to bring together teams now broken out among different buildings, including some leased overflow space in Albany, while updating layouts to more efficiently use office space," the authority said in response to questions from the Albany Business Review. "In doing so, as a best practice, we are taking into consideration future growth and building in flexibility."
